  1.          GENOA WindowsVGA (8000 Series) Online Document
  2.      Driver Installation for Microsoft WINDOWS 3.0/3.1

  4. The following instructions are applicable to users of Microsoft Windows 
  5. Ver. 3.0/3.1 using GENOA's WindowsVGA (8000 series) boards. Please note,
  6. to use 800x600 and higher resolution modes, a multisync ANALOG monitor 
  7. capable of synchronizing with these modes is required.
  8.  
  9. The "GENOA WindowsVGA Utility Program" contains high-resolution Windows
  10. drivers, as well as an INSTALL.EXE, which will help you to install the
  11. drivers.  Follow the instructions listed below carefully to install the
  12. drivers.

  14. Instructions:
  15.  
  16. 1. Install Windows 3.0/3.1 according to the setup procedures.
  17.    Run a Windows application program.  Make sure Windows installed correctly.
  18.  
  19. 2. Exit to DOS and put the "GENOA WindowsVGA Utility Programs" into
  20.    floppy drive A. And then change directory to "a:\WIN3X".
  21.  
  22. 3. Run "INSTALL.EXE" and follow program instructions.
  23.  
  24. 4. Under Windows 3.0/3.1 driectory, run "SETUP.EXE" again.
  25.  
  26. 5. Scroll through the display options until you find the Genoa WindowsVGA
  27.    display options listed below,

  29.    GENOA WVGA -  640x480, 256 colors
  30.    GENOA WVGA -  640x480, 256 colors, turbo
  31.    GENOA WVGA -  640x480, 32K colors
  32.    GENOA WVGA -  800x600, 16/256 colors
  33.    GENOA WVGA -  800x600, 16/256 colors, turbo
  34.    GENOA WVGA - 1024x768, 16/256 colors
  35.    GENOA WVGA - 1024x768, 16/256 colors, turbo
  36.    GENOA WVGA - 1280x960, 16 colors

  38.    Select an appropriate display resolution.
  39.    'turbo' means the driver has been fine tuned for speed improvement.

  41. 6. Restart Windows.

  44. Notes:

  46. 1. To run 1280x960x16, make sure you have a 70Hz monitor and switches 5,6,
  47.    and 7 are set to off.

  49. 2. The drivers support the following:

  62.    The 640x480x32K resolution is only for Genoa WindowsVGA 8860 boards.

  64. 3. If you wish to change the Monitor type, after completing the installation,
  65.    click on the Windows Setup icon found in the Main desktop window or rerun
  66.    SETUP.EXE found in your WINDOWS directory.
